Since the early 2000’s almost every hotel has some form of a spa and fitness facility -from basic to very elaborate, depending on the budget and the type of hotel. In simple terms the facilities are fitness, treatment rooms and possibly a thermal bathing (formerly the wet area) and a pool. The choice of facilities is greatly different between a resort hotel and a city hotel – however the is very little research into the real benefits to the hotel for each facility provided.
There is a shift in demand from traditional spa services to a more rounded approach to wellness which influences all the services within the hotel. This interview will look at the change in demand for services and suggest some easy metrics that can be introduced to objectively assess the benefit of a service to the hotel.
